She pushes herself up off the floor carefully. The sweat makes her hands slick inside her gloves, but she needs to check before Felicity can get up herself. Sara is mostly certain that through the rush of adrenalin she hasn’t sustained any life threatening injuries, but the groans coming from Felicity either speak at best to her lack of physical training or at worst some kind of wound that will need to be dealt with.
The Clock King twitches and lets out a loose breath. She can smell it before she reaches him. Death has a way of permeating the air. She checks for his pulse, but she already knows. There’s nothing.
"I didn’t just kill him, did I?" Felicity asks.
She imagines a world where Felicity is a killer, how all her bright smiles fade, dripping off of her like a painting left hanging in the rain. Colours running together to form a muddy brown that coats every piece of her.
"You just knocked him out," she says, hoping that her poker face is good enough. She leaves the body and walks back over to help Felicity up. The exit wound through her shoulder has already started to clot, but Sara immediately starts to catalogue the number of stitches she’ll need just the same.
"We did it," Felicity says.
"No," Sara stops her, "you did it."
